1.   INTRODUCTION

Classifier Schema Extension is a tool used to extend the AD schema to allow for distributing a Classifier config by Active Directory. Once installed, the tool can be run. Once open, clicking "Start" will begin the Schema Extension process. After this process completes, it cannot be reversed.

Licensing

The Schema Extension tool does not require a licence to be used.

2.   SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

2.1 Hardware

•  64-bit Windows Server 2008 R2+ capable PC

2.2 Operating System

• Windows Server 2008 R2
• Windows Server 2012
• Windows Server 2012 R2
• Windows Server 2016

2.3 Pre-requisites

• .NET framework 4.7.2

2.4 Windows Features

This section describes the Windows Features that must be installed to run Classifier Schema Extension

Windows Features

All supported OS' require the "AD DS Tools" feature under Remote Server Administration Tools > Role Administration Tools > AD DS and AD LDS Tools. On Windows Server 2008 R2, this should specifically install the "Server for NIS Tools" feature. On Windows Server 2012+, "AD DS Snap-in and Command-line tools" should be installed instead.

3.   INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Before installation

• Users must be logged on with administrator privileges.
• Users must first uninstall any previous version of Classifier Schema Extension.

Installation

Run the "setup.exe" from the installation media which will launch the Windows Installer and follow the on screen instructions.

Upgrading from previous versions

To upgrade from a previous version follow these simple steps:

• Uninstall the old version.
• Install the new version.
• Run the new version.

Command line installation

When calling the installer from the command line the user may use the setup.exe or the ClassifierSchemaExtension.msi via the msiexec.exe.
For example is the user required the full GUI dialogs -

“C:\installer folder\Setup.exe”

and

msiexec -i “C:\installer folder\ClassifierSchemaExtension.msi”

Silent Installer

Silent Install requires the /qn parameter or reduce dialogs /qr
Logging requires the file path and the parameter /l*v

For example silent install with logging -

“C:\installer folder\Setup.exe” /qn /l*v install.log

and

msiexec -i “C:\installer folder\ClassifierSchemaExtension.msi” /qn /l*v install.log

Passive Installer

Passive Install requires the /passive parameter, this replaces all dialogs with a single progress bar
Logging requires the file path and the parameter /l*v

For example passive install with logging -

“C:\installer folder\Setup.exe” /passive /l*v install.log

and

msiexec -i “C:\installer folder\ClassifierSchemaExtension.msi” /passive /l*v install.log

Uninstallation

To uninstall follow these simple steps:

• Navigate to 'Control Panel' -> 'Programs and Features'. The entry Boldon James Classifier Schema Extension appears in the list of installed programs. Select it and click 'Uninstall'. Confirm this operation when prompted and the product will be removed.
