1.   INTRODUCTION

The Classifier API is a set of components that should be installed in order to support any Classifier-enabled products provided by Classifier Technology Partners.

Boldon James Classifier API enables limited Classifier functionality to be utilized programmatically. The API supports:

• Getting the classification of files
• Reading label components
• Label comparisons
• Editing a label
• Setting the classification of files
• Querying all selectors and values available in a configuration along with their properties.

2.   SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

2.1 Hardware

• 32-bit or 64-bit PC

2.2 Operating System

• Microsoft Windows 7 SP1 or later

2.5 Pre-requisites

• .NET 4.71 framework

.Net 4.0 compact framework is not supported.

The Classifier API requires a valid label configuration. See the Classifier Administration Guide for more information.

3.   INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

3.1 Installation

• Run the supplied installation file, setup_x86.exe or setup_x64.exe.
• Use the 32bit and 64bit installations to match 32 and 64bit applications that consume the API.

3.2 Uninstallation

• Navigate to 'Control Panel' > 'Programs and Features'. The entry 'Boldon James Classifier API' appears in the list of installed programs. Select it and click 'un-install'. Confirm this operation when prompted and the product will be removed.

4.   FURTHER INFORMATION

Microsoft Office Documents labelled by Titus Classification products can now be read by the Classifier API. Interoperability between Microsoft Office documents classified with Titus Classification products and Boldon James Classifier products requires an appropriate Classifier configuration. For more information consult the Classifier Administration Guide or contact the Boldon James Technical Support Team.

6.   COMPARISON WITH PREVIOUS RELEASES

6.1 Classifier API 1.3.2

·          Fixed issues obtaining a web configuration (24914, 24981)

·          RefreshConfiguration now sets the API to uninitialised if no configuration is found

·         Classifier Web Configuration is now supported in Client mode

o   Optional use of Alternate Data Stream

o    Ability to remove Classifier metadata from a file

·         Microsoft Office Documents labelled by Titus Classification products are now supported
