6.3 Power Classifier for Files 3.8.0
- The product has been renamed ("for Files" has been appended) in
order to differentiate it more clearly from other products in
the Power Classifier suite (e.g. "Power Classifier for SharePoint").
- It is now possible to label Visio files, provided the 'Use ADS Marking' option is selected.
- There is better error reporting, to warn the user when Power Classifier fails to get/set labels on files.
- The status information now contains a record indicating whether Power Classifier applied a label using ADS (Alternate Data Stream).
- The PowerShell 'ItemList' property is now a mandatory item when using any of the Power Classifier commands, since it is
pointless trying to invoke a command without specifying a file to apply it to.
- The default PowerShell output view for Power Classifier commands now shows the Status information, as well as the file name and classification.
- Resilience in handling invalid Classifier configurations has been improved.
- Power Classifier GUI application user interface has been improved.
- Technology refresh to the Power Classifier installation process.
- Consistent support for all configurable options across the various Power Classifier options (console app; GUI; powershell commands).
- The Power Classifier Console application has better validation of the command line parameters. Invalid/missing parameters are
detected and reported back to the user with better information.
- The Power Classifier Console and GUI applications no longer have a dependency on the System.Management.Automation assembly; this
means they can be run on systems which are not able to run PowerShell.
- A new parameter 'Set Update Markings' can be
specified. The Default value is False, which means that any
visual markings in the document will not be automatically
updated and saved when the document is next opened by its parent
application. Whereas if True is specified, then the document
will be automatically updated and saved when the document is
next opened by its parent application; the consequence being
that the document's 'last modified time' will then be updated
even though the user has not apparently made any changes to the
document. (021545)
- Power Classifier now handles system errors caused by
trying to process very long file paths and file names. (024494)
6.4 Power Classifier for Files 3.6.1
- The Power Classifier Console Application now supports the ability to label a particular file. Refer to its 'usage' display or the
Power Classifier for Files Guide for further information.
6.5 Power Classifier for Files 3.6
- Technology refresh to support new Classifier 3.6 features
6.6 Power Classifier for Files 3.5
- Technology refresh to support new Classifier 3.5 features
- 'Service Mode' option to help support integration with Microsoft Windows 2012 File Classification Infrastructure (FCI)
- Technology refresh to support new file types, Open Office documents and HTML files.
