Updating Neo on your endpoints

You can update your managed endpoints to the latest version of Neo either manually, automatically, or on demand. Each update method requires a specific version of Neo.

Before you attempt to update Neo, verify the Neo version installed on your endpoints. To see the Neo version installed on your managed endpoints, go to Endpoint management in Forcepoint Dynamic User Protection. The Neo version column shows the current installed version of Neo on each managed endpoint.

To see the latest available version of Neo, go to Settings in Forcepoint Dynamic User Protection. The latest available version is listed in the Endpoint section.

Neo supports the following update methods:

  • If you are updating from Neo 20.x to Neo 21.02: You must manually update to Neo 21.02 using your preferred deployment tool (e.g., Jamf or MECM). Neo 20.x does not support automatic or on demand updates through Forcepoint Dynamic User Protection. You do not need to uninstall the previous Neo version. This method allows you to update specific endpoints in your organization instead of updating all endpoints at the same time (like automatic or on demand updates).
  • If you have installed Neo 21.02 (or later) and have automatic updates turned ON: When Forcepoint publishes a new Neo version, all of your endpoints will automatically download and install the latest Neo version. This method updates all of your managed endpoints to the latest Neo version.
  • If you have installed Neo 21.02 (or later) and have automatic updates turned OFF: When Forcepoint publishes a new Neo version, you can update your endpoints on demand by clicking the Update available button on the Settings page in Forcepoint Dynamic User Protection. This method updates all of your managed endpoints to the latest Neo version.
Note: Neo does not support downgrading to an earlier installed version, such as Neo 20.x. If you need to downgrade, first uninstall the later version of Neo either manually or through your preferred deployment tool, then install the earlier version.
