Deleting a Data Security Policy
Remove a data security policy permanently, using the Data Security portal.
Data security policies are not deleted in AI Security. AI Security shows you which policies apply to your AI traffic and gives you a route to the Data Security portal, where the policy is removed.
Deleting is rarely the right answer. These are shared policies. The same policy governs content everywhere Data Security is applied, not only in AI traffic, so removing one because it is noisy in AI Security also removes it from everything else.
There are two less drastic options, and it is worth ruling both out first:
- Turn off one rule. If a single rule is producing the noise, disable that rule and leave the rest of the policy working.
- Turn off the policy. Policy Status at the top of the portal panel disables the whole policy while keeping its configuration, so it can be switched back on.
Delete only when the policy created by you should not exist at all.
Steps
-
Find out what depends on the policy before you remove it.
Check the Policy Effectiveness tab in AI Security to see whether the policy has been triggered recently, and ask whoever owns your Data Security configuration whether it is relied on outside AI traffic.
Once the policy is gone there is no way to find out what it was covering.
-
Go to AI Security › Policy, then click Data Security.
-
Find the policy you want to remove.
Use Search policies if the list is long.
-
Click the policy.
The details panel opens, showing the description and the rules the policy contains. Read them, so you know what you are about to remove.
-
Click Edit in DLP at the top right of the panel.
The policy opens in the Data Security portal.
-
Check that the Policy name field shows the policy you intended.
Policies can have very similar names and identical descriptions. Confirm you have the right one before going further.
-
Click Delete Policy at the bottom left of the panel.
-
Confirm the deletion when you are prompted.
The policy is removed from the Data Security portal.
-
Return to AI Security and click the refresh icon at the foot of the Data Security tab.
The policy no longer appears in the list.
Result
The policy and all its rules are removed. Content that only that policy detected is no longer inspected, anywhere Data Security applies.
