Deregistering an Agent
Remove an agent permanently, so that it can no longer make tool calls through the MCP Gateway.
Deregistering removes the identity of the agent. Its token stops working, and anything running under that agent begins to fail. It cannot be recovered, and a replacement has to be registered from scratch with a new client ID and secret.
If you only want to stop the agent reaching a particular system, remove that connector from its Connector access instead. That leaves the agent registered and working elsewhere.
Steps
-
Go to Admin › Agent Management.
The Agents tab opens by default.
-
Find the agent you want to remove.
Use Search agents if the list is long.
-
Note which groups the agent belongs to.
You will need this afterwards. Group membership is not shown on the agent row, so check the Agent Groups tab if you are not sure.
-
Click the agent.
The agent panel opens, showing its name, client ID, connector access, and token policy.
-
Check that the panel shows the agent you intended.
The name appears in the Agent Name field at the top of the panel.
-
Click Deregister at the bottom left of the panel.
-
Confirm the removal when you are prompted.
The panel closes and the agent is removed from the list. The Registered Agents and Active Tokens counts both drop by one.
Result
The agent no longer exists on the gateway. Any call it attempts is rejected, and its client ID and secret are no longer valid.
