Setting the Token Time to Live for an Agent

Control how long the agent's access tokens remain valid before it must authenticate again.

Token time to live, or token TTL, is how long a token issued to the agent stays valid. A shorter TTL limits how long a stolen token can be used. A longer TTL means the agent authenticates less often.

The default is one hour, and you can set a value between five minutes and eight hours.

Steps

  1. Open the Register Agent panel.

  2. Expand Metadata.

  3. Under Token Policy, drag the Token TTL slider to the value you want.

The selected value is displayed to the right of the slider.

Result

Tokens issued to the agent expire after the period you selected.

Next steps

Use a shorter time to live for agents that act on sensitive data, and a longer one for agents that run continuously and would be disrupted by frequent reauthentication.
