Custom Policy Wizard - General

Use the General tab of the custom policy wizard to define a policy name and description, select one or more policy owners, and determine whether to give the rule based on the policy the same name as the policy itself:

Steps

  1. Enter a unique Policy name.
  2. Indicate whether the rule for this policy is Enabled. If this option is not selected, the rule is present, but not used.
  3. Enter a Description of the policy.
  4. Enter a custom text in Confirmation dialog text
    Note:
    • This text is displayed only when an action plan that uses the confirm action is selected.

Refer the release notes for Endpoint release compatibility.

    • The character limit of custom text is 250 characters.
    • Only one link can be added to the custom message, and the syntax for adding the link is:
      <link>url="example.com" text="display text"</link>
  5. To define one or more owners for this policy:
    1. Click Edit.
    2. Select one or more owners as described in Selecting items to include or exclude in a policy section.
    3. Click OK.
  6. Every policy has one or more rules. When this policy is created, a rule will automatically be added, based on properties set in the wizard. Indicate how to name the rule associated with this policy:
    • Select Use the policy name for the rule name to give the rule for this policy the same name as the policy.
    • Select Use a custom name for the rule to define a name for the rule, then enter a name and description for the rule.
  7. Click Next, then continue with Custom Policy Wizard - Conditionsection.
