Import and Export policies from Forcepoint Security Manager

You can export and import policies from a source Forcepoint Security Manager system to another Forcepoint Security Manager system.

To import or export policies, navigate to Policy Management > DLP policies or Discovery policies > Manage Policies in the Data Security module of the Forcepoint Security Manager(FSM) and click Import/Export drop-down.

When exporting a policy, all policy levels of the same data type as the exported policy will also be exported from the source system. During import, these policy levels are brought into the target system. If a policy level doesn't already exist on the target system, it will be created. The policy level unique identifier is the order number shown in the system, if both source and target system have the same order number but a different name or description, they will be updated on the target system.

A policy import or export status report file is generated, highlighting any changes, including newly created policy levels containing the following details:
  • Entity name - Name of the entity.
  • Entity type - Type of the entity. For example, policy, policy level, classifier.
  • Status - Policy import completion status.
  • Error message - Reasons for errors occurred during policy import. Following are the errors that can occur during a policy import process:
