FlexEdge Secure SD-WAN Engines

You can use Secure SD-WAN Engines in the Engine/VPN, IPS, and Layer 2 Engine roles. You can also use Secure SD-WAN Engines as Master Secure SD-WAN Engines to host Virtual Secure SD-WAN Engines in these roles.

Secure SD-WAN Engines are represented by different types of Secure SD-WAN Engine elements in the SMC. The following elements represent Secure SD-WAN Engines in the SMC:
Engine Role Elements
Engine/VPN

Single Engine elements represent engines that consist of one physical device.

Engine Cluster elements consist of 2–16 physical engine devices that work together as a single entity.

Virtual Engine elements are Virtual Secure SD-WAN Engines in the Engine/VPN role.

IPS

Single IPS elements represent IPS engines that consist of one physical IPS device.

IPS Cluster elements combine 2–16 physical IPS devices into a single entity.

Virtual IPS elements are Virtual Secure SD-WAN Engines in the IPS role.

Layer 2 Engine

Single Layer 2 Engine elements represent Layer 2 Engine that consist of one physical device.

Layer 2 Engine Cluster elements combine 2–16 physical Layer 2 Engine devices into a single entity.

Virtual Layer 2 Engine elements are Virtual Secure SD-WAN Engines in the Layer 2 Engine role.

Master Secure SD-WAN Engine Master Secure SD-WAN Engine elements represent physical devices that host Virtual Secure SD-WAN Engines.

These elements are containers for the main configuration information directly related to the Secure SD-WAN Engines.
