Configuring Layer 2 Engines

Layer 2 Engine elements are a tool for configuring nearly all aspects of your Layer 2 Engines.

Little configuration is done directly on the engines. Most of the configuration is done using the Management Client. The engines cannot be successfully installed before defining them in the SMC as outlined.

After you have the SMC installed and running, you can configure the Layer 2 Engines.

The tasks you must complete are as follows:
  1. Add Single Layer 2 Engine or Layer 2 Engine Cluster elements.
  2. Add system communication interfaces.
  3. Add traffic inspection interfaces.
  4. Bind licenses to specific Layer 2 Engine elements.
