Installation overview
The process of installing Security Engine consists of several high-level steps.
- Install and configure the SMC and a SMC Client.
- Download licenses for the SMC components and the Security Engines, and install the licenses in the SMC Client.
- If network address translation (NAT) is applied to communications between system components, define contact addresses for the SMC components in the SMC Client.
- Define the Security Engines with required interfaces and interface types in the SMC Client. You can optionally define Master Security Engines and Virtual Security Engines.
- Configure interfaces and routing for the Security Engines in the SMC Client.
- In the SMC Client, generate the initial configuration for Security Engines and Master Security Engines. You do not need an initial configuration for Virtual Security Engines.
- If you are not using a Forcepoint appliance that has pre-installed Security Engine software, install the Security Engine software on virtualization platforms or third-party hardware.
- Configure the Security Engine software and apply the initial configuration to the Security Engines.
- Create and install a policy on the Security Engines.
