Configure Backup Unit for Single Engine

A backup unit provides hardware redundancy for a single engine. If the primary engine fails, the backup unit automatically takes over using the same configuration, IP addresses, and policies. Hence, ensuring continuous service even if the primary engine is offline.

Configuring Backup Unit for Single Engine instead of actual cluster in active-standby or active-active modes is a simpler high-availability mechanism and also supports normal Single Engine features like interfaces that get IP address dynamically. Backup Unit configuration for Single Engine does not need additional external IP addresses or other cluster specific configuration requirements.

  2. Bind license to the Backup Unit
  3. Switch Active Node
