Getting Started
You must set certain configurations to manage the co-existence of the SmartEdge Agent and F1E agents on your machine.
Note: You must ensure to have SmartEdge Agent (SEA) v2.4, which is the minimum supported version for this compatibility mode. For F1E, ensure that you are running a supported version of the F1E
agent. Refer https://support.forcepoint.com/s/productsupportlifecycle.
If both SEA and F1E agents are present on your machine, ensure proper configuration because:
- Without SEA, managed application traffic cannot be accessed.
- Without F1E, the proxy will not filter or inspect the remaining web traffic.
Ensure the following steps are implemented to address this:
- If you already have F1E deployed, do the following:
- Follow the instructions in Configuring Web Security for Agent Co-existence.
- At the Policy level ensure the following:
- You have identified the users who need to use compatibility mode and verified that they are assigned to specific policies in Web Security. These policies can then be configured to steer the traffic for your managed cloud application via the SEA.
- F1A Auto-switching is deactivated and set to either Proxy or Direct mode.
- Deploy SEA (follow the relevant information for SEA deployment).
- If you already have SEA deployed, do the following:
- Follow the instructions in Configuring Forcepoint Data Security Cloud | SSE for Agent Co-existence and enable the relevant settings.
- Deploy F1E agent (follow the relevant information for F1E deployment).
- If you do not have any agents deployed yet, do the following:
- Deploy SEA (follow the relevant information for SEA deployment).
- Deploy F1E agent (follow the relevant information for F1E deployment).Note: Once F1E is installed and the Steer CASB managed cloud apps traffic via the SmartEdge Agent policy setting is enabled in the Web Security portal, you cannot log in to the Forcepoint ONE portal on your machine until SEA is installed. Therefore, you must download the SEA installer before F1E is installed or downloaded on another system and copied or propagated to your machine.
