AD Agent: Using an upstream proxy to connect to Forcepoint ONE SSE

IT organizations sometimes require a network proxy to be used in order to reach the internet from within the corporate network. Support for connecting to the portal through a proxy can be accomplished by simply modifying the agent's .NET configuration file.

Follow the below steps to configure the AD Agent to reach the Forcepoint ONE SSE through a network proxy:

Steps

  1. Find the proxy server name and port number that you will be connecting to.
This can sometimes be found in your local workstation's settings or you can simply contact your IT administrator.
  2. RDP/Login to the workstation that is running the AD Agent software.
The agent can only be started/stopped by an administrator, so it is a good to login with the local administrator account.
  3. Open the Forcepoint ONE SSE DirSync Console.

The console can be found in your apps by navigating to the start menu under the Bitglass folder, or in C:\Program Files (x86)\Bitglass\DirSync Agent\\Bitglass DirSync Console.exe.

Note: If the agent service is running, Stop the Agent and close the Agent console. If it is not running as in the picture below, close the console and proceed to the next step.
  4. If the agent service is running, Stop the Agent and close the Agent console. If it is not running, then expand the Bitglass Information option, click Edit at the bottom to adjust the settings, and check the box Use Proxy.
  5. Once enabled, fill out your Proxy Address and Proxy Port number you discovered in step 1. Fill out the Proxy Username and Proxy Password for an account that has access to the proxy for verification.

  6. Once you are done, Submit your settings and then click the Start button at the top to start the DirSync Console.
Ensure that all three green check-marks are seen (this indicates the agent started successfully). In the case that the agent does not start successfully, crosscheck that the proxy settings are correct and contact Forcepoint ONE SSE support.
