Adding routes for IPS Engines and Layer 2 Engines

Typically, only a default route through a Normal Interface is needed for IPS Engines and Layer 2 Engines.

Define a default route through a Normal Interface if SMCaaS components are not on a directly connected network, or if the Engine opens connections to a non-directly connected network. Add additional routes if one or more SMCaaS components cannot be reached through the default gateway.

Capture Interfaces and Inline Interfaces on IPS Engines and Layer 2 Engines do not have IP addresses and therefore cannot be configured for routing. No route definitions are needed if an IPS Engine or Layer 2 Engine communicates only within its local IP network.
