Configuring Connection

You can configure the Data Protection Service to connect with Forcepoint DLP.

To connect the Data Protection Service, you can upload the tenant information from a JSON file received by email as part of the on boarding process. Note that each time a file is uploaded, the system resets as if this is the first connection.

When the connection is active, the Connect button toggles to Disconnect, enabling disconnection of Data Protection Service from Forcepoint DLP.

In the Data Protection Service Status area, upon successful connection, the status is marked as Connected successfully, the time and date of the connection is displayed, and the Recheck connection link is enabled. This link is used to check the connection status in the event of problems. If an error is returned upon checking the connection, the status is listed as Failed to connect.

Once connected, the Forcepoint Data Security for Cloud Email and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) sections will become available. If disconnected, these sections will be disabled and you will not be able to make any selections.

The Enabling Custom Actions option in the Forcepoint Data Security for Cloud Email section adds capability to enforce DLP rules with custom actions for Forcepoint Data Security for Cloud Email. By enabling the custom actions option, the custom actions can be selected in an action plan for the Network Email channel.

Steps

  1. Go to Settings > General > Services, and select Data Protection Service.
  2. In the Connection section, click Select File, and in the dialog box that appears, click Choose File. Browse to the JSON file you received from Forcepoint, and then click OK.

The file is uploaded to the server, and the information begins to appear in the Connection section.

  3. Click Connect to establish the connection with Data Protection Service.
  4. Click Deploy to begin enforcing policies in cloud channels.
  5. Click OK at the bottom of the screen to complete the process.
