Start the SMC Client

After you have started the Management Server, start the SMC Client.

Steps

  1. If you installed the SMC Client locally on the workstation, do the following:
    • (Windows) Use the shortcut icon or run the script <installation directory>/bin/sgClient.bat.
    • (Linux) Run the script <installation directory>/bin/sgClient.sh. A graphical environment is needed.
  2. If you enabled Web Access to run the SMC Client in a web browser, do the following:
    1. In a web browser, browse to the URL of the Management Server or SMC Appliance.
      The URL can be the IP address of the server or the host name that you defined in the properties of the server. Make sure that you include the port number at the end of the URL. The default port for Web Access is 8085.
      For example, if the SMC Appliance is configured with the IP address 192.0.2.1, the SMC Client can be accessed using the URL https://192.0.2.1:8085/ in a web browser.
    2. Enter your user name and password, then click Log On.
