Hosted PAC files

For customers using Private Access as a standalone service, use the proxy auto-config (PAC) files on the Hosted PAC files page to configure endpoint. These PAC files are used by the Forcepoint Web Security Endpoint client to direct private application traffic to the Private Access service.

Important: The Hosted PAC files page provides PAC file settings for customers using Private Access as a standalone service. If you are using Cloud Security Gateway, PAC file management is handled in the Cloud Security Gateway portal.

A PAC file is a configuration script used by the endpoint client to define the proxy settings that are used for certain types of outbound traffic. For private application access, the external fully qualified domains for your application traffic are defined as forwarding rules to identify private application traffic and direct it to the appropriate service edge.

The Hosted PAC files page provides the URL used to retrieve the default Forcepoint PAC file for your account. This URL is required as part of endpoint installation (Private Access standalone only). Click a PAC file in the list to view its details. Click Download PAC file to view its contents. Endpoint retrieves PAC files automatically, via the standard ports for HTTP (80) or HTTPS (443). Using the secure (HTTPS) URL is recommended for additional security.

Note: If you need to make changes to the PAC file, define new private applications, or add non-proxied destinations specific to your organization, please contact Technical Support.
