Potential issues when upgrading to v8.5.4 and v8.5.5
A security update in the v8.5.4 product release has resulted in a new requirement for a specific dynamic-link library (dll) when upgrading Forcepoint Web Security software to v8.5.4 or v8.5.5 on a Windows platform.
If you have not recently downloaded the Visual C++ Redistributable Package from Microsoft, the upgrade will display the error message “Installation failed with error code 3004
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError:
”. The log file generated by the upgrade process, available in the Temp folder of the user running the installer, will contain a line similar
to:
C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp\2\I1588276985\Windows\resource\jre\bin\freetype.dll: Can't find dependent libraries
The dependency referenced in this log entry is for vcruntime140.dll, a file that is part of the Redistributable Package.
Actions to take if an error occur during the upgrade process:
- Close the error window but do NOT stop the upgrade process. Leave the installer window open.
- Locate the latest 64-bit Redistributable Package for your Windows version from this site.
- Download and install the package.
- Return to the installation window and continue the process.
