Potential issues when upgrading to v8.5.6

  • Potential issue when upgrading from v8.5.4 to v8.5.6:

The Unified Installer for 8.5.6 does not seem to run while running from extracted folder. When we run the Unified Installer directly, it works fine.

Note: Direct upgrade from 8.5.4 to 8.5.6 for DLP customer is not supported. To upgrade successfully from 8.5.4 to 8.5.6, first upgrade to DLP version included in 8.5.5 unified installer and then login to Forcepoint Security Manager to switch to DATA and allow the policies to be updated. After that upgrade to 8.5.6.
  • Potential issue when upgrading the Forcepoint Security Manager with Linux filter from v8.5.5 to v8.5.6:

Customers who have installed v8.5.5 filter hotfix 2 and/or v8.5.5 filter hotfix 4 may get a failure during the upgrade because Apache files permissions set to Read-only.

This can be avoided by changing the permissions prior to running the upgrade to 8.5.6.

Follow the below steps for updating the Apache http Read-only property:
    1. Open the File Explorer and go to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Websense\Web Security location.
    2. Right-click the apache folder and click Properties to open the apache Properties window.
    3. Under General tab, deselect the Read-only (Only applies to files in folder) checkbox and click Apply.
    4. Select Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files and click OK.
    5. Click OK.
Note: If anyone ignored to change the permissions prior to upgrade, they will need to restore from a backup after reinstalling 8.5.6.
