Generating the release code

The release code is required unless the uninstall is executed under the Local System account. Uninstalls triggered through an MDM are typically executed in this context, so a release code is not required.
Note: The MDM execution contexts can vary; some platforms may not run uninstall commands as Local System. Administrators should confirm their MDM configuration before deployment.

The release code can be entered via a user interface (UI) for individual agent removal or can be provided via the command line for automated removal.

The portal administrator can generate a release code from the Forcepoint Portal for one or all endpoints using the following time restrictions:

  • Short term (valid up to 1 hour)
  • Long term (valid up to 24 hours)

In both cases the remaining validity time is displayed in the Forcepoint Portal when generating the release code.

Below are the methods to generate the release codes:
  • Generating master release code - Works for all endpoints.
  • Generating endpoint specific release code - Works just for a specific endpoint. If the uninstall is related to an individual endpoint, then use the endpoint specific code.
