Getting started with the MCP Gateway (AI Agent Gateway) channel
The MCP Gateway (AI Agent Gateway) sits in between your AI agents and the MCP servers they connect to. Every tool call an agent makes passes through the gateway first. The gateway inspects the request, checks whether it should be allowed based on your policies, and then either permits or blocks it. For more information, see Understanding What MCP Gateway Is and How It Works.
Forcepoint DLP inspects the traffic through a new MCP Gateway channel, with two operations:
-
User/AI Agent request - the request sent from a user or an AI agent towards an MCP connector.
-
MCP connector response - the content returned by the MCP connector to the agent.
The MCP Gateway channel supports two actions, Permit and Block, for each operation.
AI agents, AI agent groups, and MCP Gateway connectors are configured on the Forcepoint Data Security Cloud Platform.
