Installing SmartEdge Agent on macOS

The macOS supported SmartEdge agent can be downloaded from the SmartEdge Proxy page in the Forcepoint ONE SSE portal.

1. Navigate to the Protect > Forward Proxy > SmartEdge Proxy page.
2. For most deployments, it is recommended you leave the Set PAC option checked.
   This will ensure that the SmartEdge agent can set the PAC file on the device to control.

   • The PAC File URL (Older Agents) is used by the SmartEdge agents older to 2.0.0 version.
   • The PAC File URL (2.0.0 and Newer Agents) is used by the SmartEdge agents 2.0.0 or newer versions.

   
   
   

   Note: You should only uncheck the Set PAC option if you are using another proxy or PAC file and need to merge them.
3. Select the Enable ZTNA Driver checkbox to enable ZTNA driver at tenant level. This will ensure that the Agent-ZTNA features work correctly.
   By default, the Enable ZTNA Driver checkbox is unselected.
4. If you are installing the SmartEdge agent on Big Sur or latest devices, you should download and manually trust the certificate. Follow the steps:
   1. Set the Certificate Authority mode to Windows-Local SE Proxy CA, MacOS-Bitglass CA and click the Download Bitglass CA Certificate link from the Bitglass Certificate Authority section.
   2. Install the downloaded certificate on the device.
   3. Manually trust the certificate that you just installed. Refer to Manually trusting certificates on macOS.
      Note: If you trust the tenant certificate that you just installed, then you can skip trusting BG_SEProxy_CA.
5. From the Download Agent section, select the 1.5.0 or latest version from the MAC drop-down and click .
   
   
   

   A zip file gets downloaded to your machine.

6. Unzip the downloaded file.
   The extracted folder will contain two files, that is .pkg file and auto_install.sh file.
7. Open Terminal and change directory to extracted folder.
8. Run the sudo ./auto_install.sh command.
9. Enter the system password when the Terminal prompts.
10. Once the agent installation is complete, agent tray will appear on the desktop with the cross mark on the tray. The SmartEdge agent turns healthy after checking the services.
